October Recruiting Catch-Up

It’s been a while since I’ve talked recruiting (outside of the occasional tidbit in a links post), so let’s play a bit of catch-up. Inside Lacrosse’s RSS feeds have gone wonky, so I may be a bit behind in confirmations, as well, but I’ll catch up in that regard as well.

Detroit

Since last I checked, a host of future Titans has popped up on Laxpower’s database. I’ve already profiled Rockford G Connor Flynn, and noted that NY D Paul Bitetti was listed on the database, but there are six more names to confirm and profile:

  • ON A Ryan Callaghan
  • OH M Shannen Wesley
  • Saline A Brad Harris – I asume he’s the younger brother of Titan junior Scott.
  • Pioneer M Dylan Swanson
  • OH A John Slomsky
  • NY FO Ryan Tarzia

Last night Flynn also tweeted that Andy Hebden of Brother Rice had committed to UDM. This would come as no surprise, since his brother Jamie is a Titan already, but again, it requires confirmation.

Michigan

The Wolverines don’t have any new listings for the 2012 class on LaxPower. However, there are a couple of guys I have yet to make profile posts for:

  • CA D Michael Hernandez – There has been confirmation of his commitment, so he’s next in line for a profile.
  • MD M Chase Brown – I haven’t seen confirmation of this, I’ll seek it out before profiling him.
  • Gerald Logan – Yet to confirm.
  • Cooper Charlton – Yet to confirm.

I’ve also seen reports of a few 2013 commits, and once the (confirmed) 2012 profiles are done, these guys will get a bit of ink as well:

I’ll continue profiling the commitments as information becomes publicly available.

As always, for the latest, be sure to follow @GreatLaxState on Twitter.

I wonder when we’ll see the first 2014 commit for Michigan. Gotta believe it’s coming soon.

    • Tim says:

As far as I know, there is only a handful of 2014 commitments, mostly concentrated in a couple schools (primarily UVa), right?

I’m guessing 2014s will be willing to wait a couple years to see the product Michigan puts on the field before they take a potential leap of faith for JP and crew.

I bet you’ll see one or two 2014 UM commits before the end of the year. Kids that are committing as sophomores usually have multiple options already. The question is can Michigan commit any of the kids that are already considered among the top in that class, or will those kids all choose the usual suspects (Hopkins, UVA, UNC, etc.). Most of those kids, at that level, won’t be waiting around to make their decisions.

    • Reg Hartner says:

I’m not thinking they’re going to pull 2014’s yet. They probably offered the high end kids and want to see if they’ll take a chance on the new program. The 2nd tier kids have not been offered yet and they’re the ones that would jump at the offer.
