Resume-Based MCLA Top 25

Obviously, there’s going to be some disagreement about this, and I certainly welcome discussion about the top-25. A note on the methodology first: the rankings are based on what the teams have accomplished on the field so far (as displayed in chart form here), loosely based upon Laxpower ratings. Since there’s such a wide disparity between schedules, a bit of conventional wisdom on teams comes into play, but I want to minimize that.

  1. Michigan
  2. Colorado State
  3. Arizona State
  4. BYU
  5. Chapman
  6. Cal Poly
  7. Texas
  8. Michigan State
  9. Florida State
  10. Colorado
  11. Boston College
  12. UC Santa Barbara
  13. Central Florida
  14. Utah
  15. Stanford
  16. Illinois
  17. Clemson
  18. South Carolina
  19. Chico State
  20. Arizona
  21. Boston University
  22. Virginia Tech
  23. Santa Clara
  24. Oregon
  25. Florida

I had a bit of a crisis placing SELC teams, because they don’t play a whole lot of non-conference games against good opposition, so their ratings are inflated by Laxpower. I decided to give teams like undefeated South Carolina the benefit of the doubt for now.

What say you? Based on the chart, what should change?
