The Laxperience: Game 2

Now with goalies!

For my second lacrosse game, I was pleased to see that All-American Lacrosse managed to recruit a couple goaltenders from the men’s elite league. There were also many more people (we played five a side with no goalies or subs last week, and six a side plus goalies and a sub per team this week), so it made for a more… legitimate-seeming lacrosse experience.

Of course, with a more-crowded field, my lack of Canadian-esque sticks skills – or basically any stick skills, for that matter – was exposed. After last week, I came away with the feeling that I needed to work on my conditioning. That situation is under control, so my area for improvement over the next two weeks (no game the week of July 4th) is to get on the wall.

I managed to come away with a goal on a low-to-low shot coming just over GLE on a dodge from X (I call it the Joey Hrusovsky special) and an assist in a transition situation. I probably could have had a few more assists if I was comfortable passing on the run, but I have plenty of time to work before next week.

Apologies for picture quality, as I did an inadequate job of training my amateur photographer:

I took a faceoff. I had no idea what I was doing.
This one is almost in focus!
The aftermath of my goal. Fear not, the defender stepped in/on the crease, not me.

Next report coming in a couple weeks.

That is quite the loud outfit…

Yeah, I wore red shorts not expecting a red jersey as well. I guess red-on-yellow wouldn’t have been a whole lot better though.
