Prediction: UM beats St. Joe to get to five wins and even its record. Judging by who St. Joe’s has played, its schedule is very soft and the only good team it played (Penn) it got crushed. So it’s 5-2 record is a mirage. In a close game, UM’s home field advantage proves the difference.

Agreed. Zonino plays well at home and we take a close one.

On a related note, OSU beat Bellarmine last night, making them 0-3 in conference. The only way michigan doesn’t make the conference tourney is if Michigan loses out, and Fairfield loses to bellarmine, OSU and Air Force, and Michigan also loses whatever 3 way tiebreaker is in place.

Looks like we were way off. The story of the game to me was St. Joseph’s ability to posses. They won face offs, and would hold the ball long enough that Michigan’s pressure would eventually fail and they’d get great looks at goal. Michigan would have their guys pressing out to take the ball away, but St. Joseph had some big strong guys who could protect the stick and there was no way Michigan was going to steal it. Michigan pressured for most of the game, but only came up with like 4-5 caused turnovers.

Michigan got down early, seemed to pressure more and became impatient, and it just snowballed on them.

Goalie play was good, but it seemed like just about everything else had an off day.

This was an awful loss for Michigan. Terrible effort. The offense struggles, and the defense continues to give up a ton of shots. This team has too much talent to perform at such a low level.

I missed watching the game on the internet as I had to travel out of town this weekend. I’ll wait for Tim’s write up but, judging from Jason’s comment, it seems like a clunker of a game. I hate to keep relying on this line of thought, but UM is still a young team and we’ll get uneven efforts from game to game. One game they’ll beat a decent Bellarmine team on the road, another game they’ll get whipped by a St. Joe’s team at home that isn’t that much better than Bellarmine.
