I’ll have a full preview of the Detroit-Delaware game up tomorrow, and possibly a pre-season check-in with the Titans later tonight. for now, enjoy the links:
Division-1
The Detroit Titans scrimmaged the postgrad team from The Hill Academy (including future Michigan midfielder Kyle Jackson). Detroit came away with a 12-4 victory in the scrimmage.
Detroit’s official site previews continue with defense, and move along to the midfield. All GLS preview materials can be seen up in here.
The Titans have finished their Million Pushup Challenge. Funds raised from the challenge benefit the UDM athletic department and the HEADStrong foundation. Troy Dennis, Jason McDonald, and Joel Matthews talk about the challenge:
McDonald is a media virtuoso this week, also posting a pre-season players’ blog on Lacrosse Playground.
First-ever game notes from Michigan. The Wolverines take on Denison in a scrimmage on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. Michigan’s official site previews the offensive and defensive units for the Wolverines this spring.
Michigan freshman Andrew Portnoy gives a tour of the Wolverines’ locker room.
GLS preview of Michigan will happen all next week, leading up to…
The Varsity News – the student paper at Detroit Mercy – opines on the importance of the matchup between Michigan and Detroit that’s just a week and a half away. FOX 2 News will have a piece about the game on their 5 o’clock and 6 o’clock programs this evening. (Don’t forget to order your tickets).
Detroit women’s coach Laura Maness talks about the start of the lady Titans’ season, coming soon:
Accompanying mini-story and photo gallery can be seen here.
MCLA
Davenport’s official site touts the pre-season #1 Panthers. The reigning MCLA D-2 champs are poised for a shot to defend their title.
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s alum Tim Wyderko is a team captain for Coast Guard. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy plays in MCLA D-2.
Auburn Hills-based THE RUSH is the new official video provider of the MCLA. It appears that their service primarily covers highlights – not game streams – but it’s still a big step for the league, and hopefully some of the teams based in Michigan.
Recruiting
Michigan has picked up a 2013 commitment from Boys’ Latin (Md.) attack Andrew Roswell, according to Inside Lacrosse:
Also a quarterback in football, Roswell plays club with Trilogy MD Select. Last summer, he was an All-Star at Loyola Rising Jr Shootout, also attending UPLax, Brine Shootout, King of the Hill and Crab City Challenge. In the fall, he attended UPLax and Jake Reed’s Fall Blue Chip. Roswell also considered Brown, Navy, Dartmouth, Towson, Amherst and Tufts.
One day in the distant future, I shall get around to finishing 2012 profiles and starting 2013 profiles of recruits.
Internal Linkage
Don’t forget about GLS season preview posts for the Detroit 2012 lacrosse season.
The annual GLS rundown of Michigan natives who are now playing D-1 lives here. Drop me a line if I’ve missed anyone.
