High School Weekend Rewind

Local media outlets in the area are notoriously bad at posting content related to high school lacrosse (among the many reason I started this site), so if you have a first-hand report or some photos, feel free to e-mail them to me at t.w.sullivan1@gmail.com.

Sacred Heart Academy Defeats Cranbrook Kingswood in Girls Lacrosse

I’ll start off with a girls lax note, including a photo gallery of the Cranbrook-Kingswood v. Sacred Heart game (Sacred Heart won 6-5), courtesy of the always-awesome Clark Bell – who points out that names like “Yzerman” and “Chelios” were among the players.

OLSM 6, UD Jesuit 8

Game article certainly makes it sound like the Eaglets are in a rebuilding year. I know they’ve lost a couple players to injuries this season, which can’t help.

A few old OLSM game stories from MLive’s content factory.

Brother Rice 7, New Trier (IL) 12

Game preview from a perspective of “what is this lacrosse thing?,” the top team in each state, etc. LaxPower preview. (And a reaction from the first previewer).

Ranked #1 in the Midwest, the Warriors were probably expecting to get a win. A semi-blowout loss definitely wasn’t on their minds. Game article. Delaware-bound Bennett Packer finished with 3 goals and an assist, but New Trier never trailed in the game. Rice should get another shot at them during the North American Lacrosse Invitational.

A few less-recent Rice scores.

Muskegon Reeths-Puffer

The Rockets are starting up a new program, competing as a JV club team this season before testing the varsity waters in the next couple years. It’s the first high school program in Muskegon county, though there has been an increase in youth participation in the area in the past few years.

Similar story (but a year or so ahead) in the Kalamazoo area with Vicksburg high school.

Ann Arbor Huron 10, Lansing Waverly 8

Game story. I think I may have already linked this game, but high school content is sparse out there (so e-mail me some!).

Etc.

The D-Zone blog has this upcoming week’s schedule of games. Remember, if you have anything you want to share about high school lacrosse in the state, e-mail it to me (you’d rather support someone who cares about the lacrosse scene, rather than a content farm, right?).

One Response to High School Weekend Rewind

  1. Gry Online says:

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
